Ravnica Soul Differences

New 12 Aug 2019 Asked by sylvhem 44 Comments

Mark, since we were talking about the Soul cycle from M15, I wanted to ask you something. It's established that Ravnica's worldsoul is Mat'Selesnya, who is obviously White/Green. But the Soul of Ravnica in M15 was blue. Why is that?

Those are different things.

Soul of Ravnica Query

If the Soul of Plane cards were created for m20 instead of origins, would Soul of Ravnica still be monoblue?

Ravnica is very white/blue conceptually, so the Soul could be either.

Ravnica's Color Identity

Would you say that Ravnica is a green/white plane because it's centered around belonging to different communities? Soul of Ravnica is blue, but I feel like that was more about mechanics on the card than about Ravnica itself.

I believe Ravnica is more white/blue.It’s a world built around structure.

Creature Cycle Design

New 01 Aug 2014 Asked by falingard 11 Comments

Could you make a creature-with-keyword-and-ability cycle where the blue one has Defender and a better ability, instead of having Flying and a worse ability (like Soul of Ravnica)?

Having a cycle where one color gets a drawback ability is feel bad because many players aren’t good at recognizing that it got a better body.
