Ol' Buzzbark's Dice Interaction

New 07 Mar 2020 Asked by peggle2speedrun 40 Comments

If I roll dice from Ol' Buzzbark into the shoes I am using as +1/+1 counters for Shoe Tree, does that count as "touching" my Shoe Tree?

Counters are considered part of the card they are on, so yes, it counts.

Unstable's Silliness

Will there be silliness in Unstable? More specifically silly payer interactions like shoe tree?

What would an Un-set be without some silliness?

Disrobing Scepter Mechanics

Disrobing scepter doesn't mention removing from your body specifically. Could you "remove" a shoe from shoe tree to get the effect?

No, you have to be wearing the clothes in question.

Silver-Border Clothing Effects

Does silver-border still get clothing removal effects?

Disrobing Scepter (it forced discarding a card or a piece of clothing from the opponent) never actually made it to print. Hurloon Wrangler (from Unglued) inadvertently made players remove their jeans while Shoe Tree (from Unhinged) made players take off their shoes. It was never a purposeful theme and not something a third Un-set would feel obligated to provide.

Cheatyface Gameplay Confusion

New 26 Jan 2014 Asked by melleslob 11 Comments

I'm gonna be absolutely frank here; Not a single person I've ever met has even imagined that Cheatyface could possibly have rules. There has been people I've talked to who have sleeved up a Cheatyface underneath every single card in their deck, another who had stuffed their shoes with them and got them into play with Shoe Tree, so on and so forth. And while I get the point of you saying "That's cheating, even in Silver-Bordered," I think people kinda get absorbed in cheating theme of the card.

If your group wants to cheat with Cheatyface, then make a house rule and that’s awesome. I’m just explaining how the card actually works.

Shoe Tree and Proliferate

New 01 Jul 2012 Asked by thenamelessbob-blog 4 Comments

As silver bordered rules manager - what does Shoe Tree do with Proliferate? I mean can you choose to add another counter, and if you do what form does it take (assuming of course the person doesn't actually have 3 feet)

Proliferate will add another shoe counter provided you can produce another shoe. Otherwise no shoe counter for you.

Shoe Tree Creation

New 25 May 2012 Asked by stealingshit-blog 5 Comments

Who was responsible for Shoe Tree? I saw it played once, and it was the single-most funny thing I've seen in a game of Magic.

That was me. Unglued had a card called Hurloon Wrangler with denimwalk which caused a lot of players to remove their jeans. (“In response to your declaration of attack, I remove my pants.”) While designing Unhinged, the brand team asked me not to make any more cards that made players take off clothing. So I thought, was there anything they could take off that would be less problematic? I’m not sure which came first, shoe counters or the name Shoe Tree but I managed to get them together and well, the rest is history.
