Rule Change Timing

New 27 Mar 2024 Asked by delicateturtleangel 27 Comments

Hi Mark!Regarding Doubling Down, in yesterday's article, you say that was allowed by last year's rule change. That rule change actually happened with Lithoform Engine in Zendikar Rising (September 2020), that was 3 and a half years ago šŸ˜²On the other end, I know you work on sets almost 3 years ahead of release, so that would mean that when you were working on OTJ, at that point it would have been about a year since the rule change became public. Now the question is this:Did you state "last year" because that was true when you wrote the article (i.e. it was written well in advance), OR is working so far ahead simply making it hard to keep track of when changes were made?

Just a bad memory. I should have double-checked.

Role of Lithoform with Augment

New 10 Dec 2020 Asked by haru-n-harkel 24 Comments

Hey Mark, un-rules question. What happens if you copy an augment ability with lithoform engine or a similar effect? Do i make an augment copy "token" combined with a host i control? Do I get to retarget the augment ability? Does the augment creature combine with *two* hosts? Does the copy do nothing?

An augmented host is one permanent. You copy the whole thing.

Copy Target Spell Possibility

Does Lithoform Engine open the door for a card that simply says "Copy target spell"?

Probably.

Copy Permanent Spell Nuance

New 10 Sep 2020 Asked by elderdragonmaster55 39 Comments

Hey mark noticing the whole ā€copy permanent spellā€ thing on the lithoform engine is this something new? And is it something may see in the future cards? Also possible errata wave for some cards?

It is new. Thereā€™s no errata because no cards that copied spells could copy creature spells.
