Keen Sense

Sixth Sense Decision

New 01 Oct 2017 Asked by freyasdottirs 21 Comments

Hi Mark. You often talk about the importance of preserving cool names as a resource for the future. Given that, why was it decided that Sixth Sense was printed in Amonkhet instead of just reprinting Keen Sense?

Sometimes we print a card unaware of how much we’re going to want to reprint. When that happens, sometimes on the second printing, we give it a change that is both more universal and more flavorful.

Mirri Crovax Alternate Story

"Mirri, on the other hand, explores what if Crovax had turned her into a Vampire instead of killing her." Er, not quite. In the alternate timeline, Mirri ended up killing Selenia instead of Crovax, causing her to become cursed instead. Crovax had to flee from Mirri as depicted in Keen Sense and became Crovax, Ascendant Hero.

That is true. We talked about different alternative versions and I forgot the one we settled on.

Keen Sense Reprint Risk

I recognize the difference between Sixth Sense and Keen Sense, but when is that difference ever going to matter? Why not just reprint Keen Sense?

There’s an omen that if Keen Sense is ever reprinted, they’ll take away the free soda at work and R&D didn’t think it was worth the risk.

Color Pie Analysis

Do you see Keen Sense (the green Curiosity) as a color pie bend, a break, or neither?

Neither. Green gets “curiosity” in the modern color pie.

Curiosity Color Fit

New 31 Dec 2012 Asked by zok72 1 Comments

What is your opinion on the color pie fit of curiosity? I mean yes, blue is primary in card draw, but this is creature based card draw on an enchantment. It seems like that's much more of a green card (which cares about card draw only through creatures and enchantments). Could we possibly see Keen Sense in a core set (instead of just being a planar chaos fluke)?

The Curiosity ability is in blue and green.
