White's Fog Adjacent Effects

You said that white doesn't get Fog effects anymore, but we just got two white cards in the last year that prevent you from being damaged as part of their effect, Everybody Lives and Flare of Fortitude. They technically aren't fog in the mechanical sense, you still get poison and commander damage, but they largely play the same. The fact that we got two of these means it feels less like an outlier too so I'm curious what is happening with these two cards.

White goes get damage prevention, so it is Fog adjacent.

Choosing 'Toughness' Over 'Health'

Hey Mark, do you know if there's a reason why "toughness" was chosen as a name for creature fortitude over something more straightforward like "health"?

I don’t know. I think it was trying to convey the physical constitution of the creature more than their overall state of being.

Advice on Career Contentment

Hi Mark. I am good at my low level corporate job, and different higher-ups have tried to convince me over the years into accepting promotions and/or management positions, but I'm satisfied with where I am. Rejecting new responsibilities sometimes reflects negatively on me because some supervisors have framed it as lack of dedication. You are very successful in your current role, and you've been in the position for a while. Do you have any advice for me as someone who just wants to stay put?

It’s just having the fortitude to tell your bosses that you’re doing what you want to do. Luckily for me, my bosses recognized that I’m very good at what I do and they haven’t bugged me about it. Understanding what makes you happy is a great thing to have, and there’s nothing wrong with you conveying to those in power that this is what makes you happy.
