Eater of Days

Skip Turns Rule

New 18 Dec 2023 Asked by heavenlyevan 25 Comments

In a draft game recently someone played "Eater of Days" and let the etb resolve to have themselves skip their next two turns. They then cast "Better Than One" (they actually cast it multiple times but it isn't relevant to the actual ruling) to add a teammate onto the game. Would the teammate's turns be skipped as well? They didn't exist when the skip next two turns trigger happened.

They would because the core is the player who skipped turns.

Thank you for such an awesome fan-loving blog! For my birthday trivia, could I find out something interesting about my absolute favorite card, Eater of Days?? Thanks, again!

I believe Eater of Days started with the drawback and us trying to figure out how big a 4-drop artifact creature could be.Happy Birthday!

Future High-Power Cards

Will we ever see a card such as "Phyrexian Dreadnought" or "Eater of Days" printed in the future with the power scale of Phyrexian Dreadnought?

Will we print a card the power of a card we had to ban? : ) Maybe, but not on purpose.

Future Card Mechanisms

Can we expect to see more "Stifle hungry" cards (Phyrexian Dreadnought, Eater of Days, Leveler, et.c) in the future?

We don’t do as many as we used to but I’m sure we’ll do one every once in a while.

Flicker Spell Idea

New 15 Nov 2012 Asked by karric 5 Comments

Could we get a flicker spell that doesn't return the card to its owner's side of the field, but to it's controller's? I want to donate Eater of Days, then flicker it multiple times.

The application to that is so limited and we try to make effects work similarly so players learn how to play them and can anticipate how future cards work.
