Treefolk vs Hydras

Based on your posts, it seems like it would be impossible to convince you that we prefer treefolk 'flavorwise' over hydras. There just aren't that many playable treefolk, so of course hydras get more love. (if Dungrove Elder were in standard with so few board wipes and the new mono-green goodies coming out now...wow). Could you maybe ask R&D to publish an article about iconics including the survey data that led them to believe we don't love treefolk 'flavorwise'?

Being that the Question Marks seem to want to return to Kamigawa, I’m pretty certain you all aren’t a random sampling. : )

Dungrove Elder Design

Who designed Dungrove elder? And can I get some signed? If so where would I find the address for my self-addressed stamped envelope?

I assume someone on the Magic 2012 design (or possibly development) team. If you send it to me, I’ll try to track down the designer.

Hydras vs. Treefolk

Hydras and not Treefolk for Green's iconic creature? Treefolk mesh with Green's keywords better - Trample (at least since Urza, beautiful sets btw), Hexproof (Dungrove Elder), Landwalk (though not around as much in Treefolk anymore). I understand the drive to pick Hydra to associate with the Regenerate keyword, since Regen is very green, but doesn't that flavor work with Treefolk as well? I think about forests after a fire.

Rare iconics are cards we only want to print a few sexy versions of at rare. Treefolk are something we want to use at all rarities.

Treefolk Hexproof Coincidence

Is Treefolk being hexproof a thing now? Or is it just a coincidence that the recent ones (dungrove elder and lumberknot) are?

Just a coincidence. Hexproof isn’t tied to treefolkness. (Read Maro’s Tumblr where he events brand new words!)
