hi there,is braid of fire still in color for red?

Red can do temporary mana production. I don’t think we’d quite do it this way, but the core idea isn’t off limits.

Costs and Gaining Mechanic Discrepancy

"Costs can’t be the gaining of something (for you)" braid of fire and planeswalker +loyalty abilities disagree....

Because of mana burn, the mana wasn’t all upside at the time. And loyalty abilities work differently than activates abilities.

Legendary Rules Change

Why would removing the rules associated with legendary be a problem? While it would make some cheap legends really good and Mirror Gallery useless, it isn't like those rules haven't changed multiple times anyways. Braid of Fire becoming a lot better without mana burn didn't seem to break anything, and even if it did, the relevant cards could just get banned in formats where they're a problem.

My thought on the matter is a minority opinion in R&D. The majority are not interested in the idea.

Braid of Fire Analysis

Do you think Braid of Fire is a much less 'fun' card because of the removal of mana burn? To me it was kind of cool in that yes, you got this awesome source of mana, but you had to be careful about how you used it or it would bite you. What are your thoughts on that?

Rules are made for the greater game and not how they interact with individual cards. Cards will always change but the core of the game will remain.

Removing Mana Burn

Why was mana burn done away with? The flavor was good, allowed for some interesting mechanics (Braid of Fire being prime among them), and stopped combos if they didn't have enough of an outlet. Was it just deemed not worth the complexity it introduced?

It simply wasn’t worth the complexity cost.
