Blue Discard Cards Examples

New 01 Sep 2020 Asked by tbjanowski 43 Comments

Dear Mark Note Blue has Amnesia, Dismal Failure, Forget Minamos Meddling, Piracy Charm, (my favorite)Probe with Kicker, Riptide Pilferer. Venarian Glimmer potentially Apathy, Coral Net, Mind Bomb and Trapfinder's Trick are all examples of Blue Discard so, no Black does not have a monopoly on Discard.

You can do the same with non-blue counterspells. Note both lists lean pretty heavily on early Magic.

Confusion about Aether Vortex

New 26 Feb 2020 Asked by vargenhk 22 Comments

Thank you for the Unsanctioned FAQ. It was informative and fun. I do have a followup question about Yet Another Aether Vortex. In the FAQ it says newly revealed cards count as entering the Battlefield. It also says newly revealed Auras won't be attached to anything and will go to the graveyard. But don't the regular rules say that if an Aura enters the Battlefield and isn't cast, then it gets attached to a valid target? See Flicker of Fate + Dreadful Apathy shenanigans in THB...

The logistics of something being physically on top of your library and enchanting a permanent was troublesome enough, that we decided to make “top of your library entering the battlefield” work a little differently.

Amoral versus Immoral

New 09 Jul 2018 Asked by scribonia 49 Comments

The definition of amoral is "lacking a moral sense; unconcerned with the rightness or wrongness of something." It seems more like apathy or lack of firmament in purpose, than denial of morals as a concept.

Don’t confuse “amoral” with “immoral”. An amoral person ignores moral principles while an immoral person violates them. Amoral 1. not involving questions of right or wrong; without moral quality; neither moral nor immoral. 2. having no moral standards, restraints, or principles; unaware of or indifferent to questions of right or wrong: a completely amoral person. Immoral 1. violating moral principles; not conforming to the patterns of conduct usually accepted or established as consistent with principles of personal and social ethics. 2. licentious or lascivious.

Game Loyalty

I don't have any heartwarming stories about how much Magic means to me, but it is the only game to date that I've gotten into and then abandoned periodically (either out of apathy or frustration with the game), but always find myself coming back to. I think that speaks volumes for how overall well-done the game itself is. (Well, that and the whole "around for almost 20 years" thing...)

If people want to share heartwarming stories about how Magic impacted their life, I’d love to hear them.  Note that is very common for people to leave Magic and return - multiple times.
