Misusing Terms

Doesn't luckylooter need to think about the term 'strictly better'? siege mastodon is not better in your deck than armored cancrix if you have islands/blue mana sources but not plains/white mana sources.

People misuse the term “strictly better” all the time.

Creature Power Levels

New 18 May 2014 Asked by luckylooter 17 Comments

Why would a designer want to put a strictly better creature in the same set as another at the same rarity (common)? I ask because of Armored Cancrix, a vanilla 2/5 for 4U and Siege Mastodon, a vanilla 3/5 for 4W both appearing in M14. Why wouldn't the designer want to use the Cancrix's design space to show what Blue does with defensvie creatures, rather than show it being less creature-powerful than white?

I think a little direct comparison of vanilla power level is fine. Both cards will see play in limited formats.
