Color Pie Limitations

New 04 Apr 2015 Asked by caseythecarter 19 Comments

When you say a color "can't" do something within the limits of the color pie, you mean that they can't do it well, correct? For instance, red doesn't get unconditional tutors, but we have cards like Ring of Three Wishes. Are artifacts allowed to bleed the color pie a little bit, or are they mostly just exempt from the rules by virtue of being inefficient?

Colorless is not Red. Colorless doing something is not Red doing it even if a Red deck can play the card. There are certain things we keep from colorless because we don’t want any color to be able to do them.
