Rules for Planechase Planes

New 05 Oct 2023 Asked by patronics-blog 38 Comments

Why do Planechase Planes get a place in the comprehensive rules, but something like the Face the Hydra deck doesn’t?

Face the Hydra was more play experience than product, and those are treated differently.

Planechase Planes Challenge

Where do you see some of the weird planechase planes like Iquatana on the Rabiah scale? Player feedback on planes like Vryn and Xerex seems to indicate we'd love to visit some weird places.

It’s much easier to do one-of cards for weird worlds than put a whole set there. A setting has to have a style guide and clear internal consistency. I’m not saying we’ll never do it, but it’s a very difficult ask of our creative team.

Planechase Product Potential

Would a secret lair for Planechase planes (with new designs) be a reasonable ask if a full planechase product is off the table?

I think a Planechase product that’s appropriately positioned is still a possibility.

Can Secret Lairs be a small set of oversized cards, like the Planechase planes or the old phyical Vanguard cards?

It’s not off limits.

Strixhaven's Plane Selection

New 22 Feb 2021 Asked by cairnwanderer 68 Comments

Why place Strixhaven in a plane we've never heard of when it could be placed in one of the Planechase planes we've never been to with few current defining features?

Going to a plane referenced in Planechase only means something if we’re paying off something referenced in Planechase.
