Light Up the Stage

Red Vs Blue Card Draw

Is red impulse draw meant to be inherently weaker than blue card draw? Light Up the Stage is incredibly close to Divination with upside.

And downside. Blue gets to keep its cards for the rest of the game.

Comparing White Weenie, Red Burn

"White weenie’s biggest vulnerability is it runs out of gas." Wasn't the same true for burn decks, which are in general even more aggressive than white weenie? Yet now we get red card draw every single set, some tailor made for burn (such as Light up the Stage). Why is white any different?

White weenie’s high level tournament track record is significantly better than red burn decks.

White's Unique Buffs

Can white grant power and/or toughness bonuses that last until your next round (like how light up the stage lasts a little longer than traditional impulse draw)

It can by granting +1/+1 counters. For memory issues, we limit how many effects last beyond the end of a turn.

Red Draw Mechanics

If Mentor of the Meek bends White’s slice of the color pie because White often plays small creatures, does Light Up the Stage bend Red’s slice because Red often plays cheap burn?

Impulsive draw is an in-pie space we’ve carved out for red. It lets red draw cards in a way keeps to its focus of acting in the now and not planning for the future.
