Rise in Creature Power

I am just curious why there has been such a rise in creature power? I started playing again and creatures just seem so undercosted for what they do. I see creatures that do things that old spells used to do, but with a body attached. Compare Juzám Djinn vs Advent of the Wurm.

The reason is because when the game began, creatures sucked. For example, barring rules complication or Reserved List issues, there is not a single creature printed in Alpha we couldn’t print today. That cannot be said of the noncreatures.
