Jace, Memory Adept

Planeswalker Print Frequency

The two-block change does seem likely to increase variety in planeswalkers in that a single character is less likely to receive two printings in the same year. For example Jace was printed twice in 2012: Jace, Memory Adept as a Core Set reprint and Jace, Architect of Thought for the Return to Ravnica storyline.

A fine point.

Card Text Grammar

Is there any reason why Jace, Memory Adept says "Any number of target players each DRAW twenty cards." and Ancestral Recall says "Target player DRAWS three cards."? That is to say why do some cards use draw over draws?

“Any number” is plural so you don’t use the s.

Uniqueness Rules Disparity

Why are planeswalkers and legendary creatures treaty differently for uniqueness? I cannot control Jace, Memory Adept and Jace, Architect of Thought, but I can control Teysa, Orzhov Scion and Teysa, Envoy of Ghost even though in both cases one character is represented in different cards.

It’s a problem with how the game is set up. We would like them to work the same but the infrastructure to do so isn’t there (aka cards that are the same person don’t always make it clear that they are).

Blue Card Drawing

Maro, could you please explain why blue, the color of spells and 1st in card drawing...has 1 card that draws cards in m13. Divination. That's it.

You are forgetting both Scroll Thief and Jace, Memory Adept. Why only three? Because there’s a lot going on in a core set and there is limited space. Also, a little card drawing goes a long way.

Jace Planeswalker Comparison

No. Jace, Memory Adept is more powerful than the Mind Sculptor. If I use his ultimate, it's a huge card advantage ratio. I used him at FNM, and both twice it came down to Jace and Thrummingbird to get me first place. I love the new jace.

I’m not saying that Jace, Memory Adept is a bad card or that it can’t conditionally be better than Jace, the Mind Sculptor. I’m saying that in overall power level Jace, the Mind Sculptor is more powerful.  If you’re having fun with Jace, Memory Adept though, have at it. More powerful does not always equate to more fun.

Jace Card Power Levels

heres one, why is Jace, Mind Sculptor anned but Jace, Memory Adept is not?

R&D doesn’t like revealing power level f cards to players allowing you all the chance to figure it out for yourselves. Just this once I’m going to break this rule: Jace, the Mind Sculptor is a more powerful card than Jace, Memory Adept.
