Karn's Oil Origin

New 05 Jul 2023 Asked by choppedninjaprince 27 Comments

Hello Mark. Mirrodin’s corruption started with the oil brought by Karn, right? This oil is said to come from his heartstone, right? It was Xantcha's. It was created more than 3 millennia before the Glistening oil got it’s infectious capacities. So, how could that be? Did I missed a retcon?

Any Vorthoses know where the oil Karn accidentally brought to Mirrodin came from?

hi maro, you have said a lot of times that phirexian can't hold a spark, but reading with detail about karn get in urza's spark, what makes karn capable of holding the spark is that is completly sentinet thanks to the hearthstone of xantcha (a phyrexian sleeper agent, for those that dont know), he, all the biological phirexians and all the artificial phirexians with a heartstone look capable of holding a spark. PD: why the legacy didn't activation didn't purgue karn from the glistening oil?

The Phyrexians being unable to hold a spark is due to some quality unique to the Phyrexians.
