Grove of the Burnwillows

Trivia for Grove of Burnwillows

Hello Mark! My birthday was on the 3rd, but it's been a busy few days so I'm just now cashing in my birthday trivia!Do you have any trivia on Grove of the Burnwillows? Or perhaps Future Sight as a whole?

Grove of the Burnwillows was part of my cycle of cycles dual land cycle, where each futureshifted dual land represented a whole cycle of dual lands. Grove of the Burnwillows was made as an anti-pain land (aka the Ice Age dual lands), where the cost was the opponent gaining a life instead of you losing one. Happy Belated Birthday!

Unique Dual Land

Is there a reason Grove of the Burnwillows was a one of? If we are talking color pie it seems like we could see a couple more color pairs and have it still feel appropriate.

Future Site did a cycle of future-shifted dual lands where each one came from a potential future dual land cycle. That’s why there was only one.

Dual Lands Cycles

What're the chances of the other Future Sight dual lands getting complete cycles, like with the filter lands and horizon lands? (So more of Grove of the Burnwillows, Nimbus Maze, and River of Tears)

I’ll call it possible, but not highly probable. The ones we liked how they played have been cycled out. The ones remaining, we have issues with, but who knows, I never say never.

Future of Rare Land Cycles

Looking back at the rare land cycle from future sight, we got to see the filter lands in the lorwyn block and we recently got to see the canopy cycle in m.h (well the enemy cycle at least) but i was wondering. Where are the Grove of the burnwillows, Nimbus maze and River of tears cycles in the future of magic? I will argue the canopy cycle is the highest powers so i dont see the other 3 cycles breaking anything.

It’s not always just about power. River of Tears, for example, is hard to process.

Completing the Grove Cycle

How likely is it that the Grove of the Burnwillows cycle gets completed?

I think we’ll do it eventually possibly in a supplemental set.

NWO and Rare Lands

Is Grove of the Burnwillows not NWO friendly because of the extra mental load of remembering to give life every time? If that's the case, why are the Pain Lands ok?

New World Order is about complexity at common so it has nothing to do with rare dual lands. The issue with the life gain was more a power issue, if I remember correctly, than a memory issue.
