Goblin Piker

Square Stats Mechanics

About the idea of "square stats matter:" I think you have another obstacle in that the layer system would create some counter-intuitive interactions. For example, if you have a Goblin Piker enchanted by Holy Strength and some sort of square-stats-lord that says "Creatures with power equal to their toughness have flying," does your Piker have flying? Intuition says yes, layers say no.

I didn’t even get into the rules/layers issues. “Square stats matters” has all sorts of obstacles.

Card Type Visuals

Many TCGs have different frames for different card types. Do you think colors are so important that a Lightning Bolt needs to look closer to a Goblin Piker than to a Divination?

If we had to do it all over again, I believe card types would be a little more different, especially permanents and spells (instants/sorceries).
