Ambassador Oak

Longest Card Workshop Process

Hi Mark! I was wondering: what's the longest you've ever had to workshop a card before it was put into a set? [Either longest amount of time or most amount of attempts to get it right] If you can and want to share, what card was it?

Moose and Squirrel (the card printed as Ambassador Oak) went in and out of files for ten years. And then the one time I didn’t put it in the file, it got printed. : )

Do you think a variant of Ambassador Oak which was actually just a Moose and a Squirrel could see print in like a core set or something?

Maybe one day,

Off the top of your head what's the card that took the longest to make it from your brain to print? (Assuming you can tell us about it yet)

“Moose and Squirrel” (a 3/3 with a 1/1 token in Green) was first designed in Tempest and came out in Morningtide (as Ambassador Oak). There have been longer ones but that’s the one I remember off the top of my head.

How old was your oldest design that saw print? I.e you said Ambassador Oak from Morning tide was created for Tempest

Scragnoth and Duplicity were both designed before I came to Wizards. Now that I think if it, Maro was also pre-Wizards.
