Runic Repetition

Exile Mechanic Question

"I want [exile] being a place we can send thing never to return." Then do you consider Runic Repetition a mistake? Or is that narrow enough to be an exception?

I’m not crazy about it, but it is narrow.

Exile Zone Interaction

New 14 Feb 2015 Asked by itsnotsafetogoalone 42 Comments

If anything, there needs to be more cards that interact with the exile zone. Riftsweeper and Pull from Eternity are the only two cards that can bring a card back from exile without some sort of added condition attached to it. (Runic Repetition almost counts but it says a card with flashback)

Let’s agree to disagree.

Runic Repetition Opinion

Hi! I was wondering what's your opinion on the card, "Runic Repetition"? Because it's only for flashback, and not going to return a creature exiled with a Path, do you feel differently?

I do not like cards that allow you to get back cards of yours that have been exiled. If someone Dismisses you flashback spell, it should be gone forever.

Speaking of exiled zone. What do you feel about Runic Repetition?

I’m not a fan.

Exile Zone Viewpoint

From today's column: "I didn't talk about the exile zone because I thought (and mostly still do) that it's only a zone for things to go to, not from." What do you think of Runic Repetition, then? Do you like it? Or is it another card you fought against, like Hornet Sting?

Every time a card brings back a card from exile (with the exception of a card that puts a card there and brings it back itself - I’m fine with using the exile as a marker for things like imprint or Oblivion Ring) I always complain. The point of exile, as far as I’m concerned is to permanently remove something. Each time we break this rule, we make the exile zone more and more just a second graveyard.
