Run Wild

Wasteland's Power Level

I believe that Wasteland would not be too strong for Modern, and likely not very strong in Standard. In Legacy, Wasteland is a safety valve to keep the greedy manabases in check, but there's no equivalent in Modern, so greedy manabases just run wild without any interaction to keep them in check.

Not a play designer, but you are way underestimating how powerful Wasteland is. Not only is it too strong for Standard. I believe it’s too strong for Modern.

Guiding Art Creation

Do people at wizards have a basic idea of what the art on cards should let look like or do the artists just run wild?

We write art descriptions for the artist that explain what the illustration needs to convey but we let the artist choose how best to draw it. For instance, we might say it’s “a dragon in the air attacking with flame breath” but then we leave it to the artist how best to illustrate that including how the art is positioned.

Spoiler Method Feedback

I, for one, think it's hilarious how you spoiled Nessian Courser. Many fans are going spastic over how you let them down with all the hyping you were doing, while in reality all you said was there was a futureshifted card and you let our imaginations run wild. Well played, Mr. Rosewater.

I’m curious how you all felt. Did you like or dislike the method by which I spoiled Nessian Courser?
