Digital Medium's Effect on Game Design

Hi Mark! I’m curious if digital gameplay has a practical impact on how new cards are designed. I can imagine that in addition to a validation of the Rules Manager there is also a check for digital, e.g. a card like Radiate (fringe playable but a nightmare for a Programmer) would still be created today?

There are meetings called digital reviews where we meet with people from Magic Arena and Magic Online to go over digital implementation. One of the things that can happen in those meetings are notes about how we could tweak designs to make them easier to program.

Artistic Take on Viking Set

I was very excited for a Viking set, from what I've seen art wise it fails to deliver a good representation of Norse or Viking culture. Why hasn't the art department done enough research into actual dark ages clothing and art etc?

Kaldheim is not a historical Norse set. It’s a fantasy set inspired by Norse mythology. We’re trying to radiate a certain atmosphere, not necessarily replicate the past.
