Plague Engineer

Errata and Phyrexian Race

You recently errated a whole bunch of cards to be phyrexian creature type which a pretty significant change to the point where it affects constructed by allowing plague engineer hit infect decks, so what if the difference between this and making the nephilim legendar

When we introduce a creature type to the game, we errata old cards that have that creature type as to not cause confusion, so that all cards that interact with that creature type do so consistently with the creative. That’s a completely different thing that making something legendary that never was. The latter is not something we’ve ever done, while we’ve done the former on numerous occasions.

Phyrexian Type Consequence

As a Vorthos who loves everything about Phyrexia, I think the new Phyrexian creature type is cool from a flavor standpoint. However, as someone who's also played Infect competitively in Modern and Legacy for many years, it's disheartening how much this change has hurt the deck in both formats (namely by making it instantly fold to Plague Engineer). Was this brought up at all while the change was being discussed, or was it an unintended consequence?

It was an unintended consequence. I will note that having all the creatures be the same creature type has potential to be an asset as much as a liability.

Impact of Phyrexian Type Update

I think for some people, the reason why the Phyrexian creature type update is bad is that it made infect decks -extremely- weak to Plague Engineer now that basically all the creatures in the deck share a creature type and tend to be 1/1s. In the last 2 weeks in Legacy, it's in almost 25% of sideboards

Being a tribe has pluses and minuses. Perhaps one day, the right card comes along (and it could already exist) that makes the deck better. They’ve always creatively been the same creature. We’ve just mechanically caught up with where the flavor has always been.

Phyrexian Errata Effect on Modern Infect

Re: Inkmoth Nexus being Phyrexian; Askers are concerned that the Modern Infect will die because plague engineer can name Phyrexian and kill every creature in the deck.

Thanks for letting me know.

MH2 Power Addition Hint

New 10 Apr 2021 Asked by skakutani 59 Comments

Like MH1 added more power to tribal decks(excluding w6 and plague engineer), is there anything that you can hint at being given more power in MH2?

The only hint I can give is there are numerous themes I’m personally very excited about.
