How often do you work on Mood Swings? Once a year? In the can, just waiting?

I play it regularity. I tweak it every couple years.

you mention 'mood swings' quite often, and you clearly have a lot of faith that it is a good game despite not being able to get it to production. have you considered doing a kickstarter for it? is that something that you would be allowed to do given your position at wotc? with your game design notoriety and dream-infiltrating levels of popularity it would seem like a pretty viable route to take.

I don’t think Kickstarter is currently a viable option, but I haven’t given up the fight. My plan is to get it to print someday.For those unaware, Mood Swings is my mass market TCG that I’ve been trying to get made for twenty-six years.

Do you make tweaks or add to Mood Swings still or was the design for it set in stone at some point?

I haven’t tweaked it in many years. I still play it though.

Will you ever consider talking about Mood Swings? Or any other games youve been on teams like Neopets or Duel Masters or does your current position limit these topics?

Hello Mark, I used to work at an after school center where some of the older kids played MTG, the younger kids tried but it was clearly over their head. Seeing this made me think if I could design a simpler TCG for them. Do you have experience in designing a game meant for younger minds?

I designed a whole mass market TCG, called Mood Swings, whose major purpose was to introduce many of the cool aspects of TCG’s with way less complexity (and a shorter play time).

what would it take to get Mood Swings to be created?

I was going back through some old Blogatog answers and I saw someone asking about Mood Swings. Is it still kicking around in your noggin? Have you had any ideas for it recently or is it in a pretty stable state?

Sadly, not that I know of.

You say that you designed Mood Swings >20 years ago: has it still been a work in progress during that time? I (and I'm sure others) would love to hear if/how your experience designing Magic has influenced its design!
