Invisibility

The One Ring Query

New 22 Oct 2023 Asked by theindecisivemess 25 Comments

I have another Ignacio question. Is "The One Ring" armour? The rules excerpt on Ignacio qualifies armor as "a covering worn on the body to protect against damage." How small can an object be to be considered a 'covering'? and does an object count as "protect[ing] against damage" if that protection is a byproduct? Like Bilbo used the invisibility granted by The Ring to survive Gollum in the cave. Side question, does the damage have to be physical? or can it be biological/magical/mental/etc?

A ring is not armor.

Ringbearer Emblem Suggestions

Did you think about adding flavour/ability words to the Ringbearer emblem to make the abilities easier for players to remember? As an example, level 1 could have been "Invisibility — Your Ring-bearer is legendary and can’t be blocked by creatures with greater power.", level 2 "Burglary", level 3 "Merciless", and level 4 "Deadly."

I think that might have been talked about, but wasn’t in the room.

How would you convey mechanically invisibility? Hexproof? Can't be blocked? Both?

Usually some combination of unblockability and untargetability.

Hexproof in Magic World

New 14 May 2021 Asked by rolscane 35 Comments

In world what does hexproof look like? Is it invisibility, is it just a visible force field or does it vary from card to card?

It’s magical resistance. It can take different forms, and it’s not always visual.

Flight vs Invisibility

New 30 Jun 2012 Asked by timeboxer 5 Comments

Flight or invisibility?

Flight, hands down.
This was a topic one day in R&D and the majority said invisibility.
Flight seems like the right choice because it is fun and practical. There’s nothing you can do with invisibility that isn’t a little immoral.
