Why is volatile rig not a juggernaut?

Um, because it’s a construct.

Coin Flip Card Design

"The reason we tend to err towards good and bad side on most coin flipping cards is that most the players who enjoy coin flipping like the rush of the swing. We occasionally do both positive ones but they never score as well in market research." I'm willing to be disagreed with, but as I see it, MtG has seen 4 win-win coin-flip cards at best. Molten Sentry, Odds//Ends, Puppet's Verdict, Volatile Rig. This sampling size is just TOO SMALL and unexplored for me to accept your explanation.

We’d be in trouble if we had to make five different cards before we could learn something definitive.

Coin-Flipping Appeal

How large is the section of the audience that likes coin-flipping on cards like Volatile Rig, where the coin flip can make or break an entire game?

Bigger than most players think.

Designing Cards

Did you have a hand in designing Volatile Rig or Street Sweeper from RtR? They seem like your kind of funny, flavorful cards. It's nice to see some more tongue-in-cheek cards!

I designed neither. Volatile Rig was designed by the development to fit art they had (they had kicked out the card that was originally tied to the art). Street Sweeper was designed by Ethan Fleischer during a sub-design team designing city tropes.
