Rings a Bell

Rings A Bell Strategy

Un-rules question! This isn't covered in the Unsanctioned FAQ (I checked!). If your opponent plays Rings A Bell, am I right in thinking that there is nothing to stop you ringing the bell constantly? It was VERY annoying for him, but he still won.

Yes, there’s something stopping you. It’s highly unsportsmanlike and rude. You would be kicked out of an in-store Un-tournament for doing that, for example. As a general rule, the answer to “can I do this thing that would be highly annoying and bothersome to my fellow players?” is no. Winning is not the end goal of a more casual Magic game (such as Unsanctioned) - it’s having a good time playing Magic with others.

"Rings a Bell" Rules

I think you misunderstood the question: The previous QM was trying to ask-- when I cast "Rings a bell", do I have to tell my opponents what word I picked?

Yes, you have to tell them. Choosing something is public information. If it isn’t it says “secretly choose” like Buzzing Whack-a-Doodle.

Hi Mark, Un-question time. Are you required to disclose the word you choose for Rings a Bell?

It depends on the game state and my opponent.

Tarkir Khans Fates

So in this new present of Tarkir, one of the Khans from KTK is dead, one is undead, and one rings a bell. Dare I ask about the fates of Surrak and Anafenza?

I’m previewing one of them in my column next week. : )
