Multicolor Card Justification

There are many cards that could fit in less colors than they are actually made in (Detention Sphere is UW but could be W, Siege Rhino is WBG but could be BG). Is there any reason to do that other than balance and flavor?

If three color cards had to always have a unique quality of each of the three colors, you would see very, very few three-color cards.

Oblivion Ring Update

I've noticed that Oblivion Ring's infinite loop glitch got fixed in recent versions such as Detention Sphere and Banisher Priest. Will we ever see Oblivion Ring in Standard again, or will we see a fixed version, and if so will it be like Detention Sphere or like Banisher Priest?

We’ve moved to the new version because we found the glitch strongly non-intuitive.

Preserving Unintended Uses

Recent "improvements" in card text make them do only what Design intended. For example Oblivion Ring->Fiend Hunter->Detention Sphere->Banisher Priest. This removes "unintended" uses as tricks, combos, and clever play decisions. As a Johnny I love these "holes" and feel forced into intended interactions. I want to do unintended things the designers didn't dream of - please don't take them away!

What we’re trying to phase out if things that are non-intuitive and make other players think you are cheating (or at least doing things that feel inherently wrong making them argue with you) when you explain what you’re doing. We definitely want players to have the abilities to do things with cards that we don’t intend and make sure such opportunities still exist.

Detention Sphere Query

It´s friday, I need my answers fix! Do you feel that Detention Sphere is too similar to Oblivion Ring, did Development want the two together for a reason?

Both cards are something that white does - it locks things away. It’s kind of like how Lightning Bolt and Shock feel similar.

No Infinite Loops

Detention Sphere can't exile cards named Detention Sphere. That means that unlike Oblivion Ring and most similar cards, you can't form an infinite loop with 3 of them. My question: why won't you let us have fun?
