Blast of Genius

Mana Cost Terminology

I've always thought that the phrase "Converted Mana Cost" is awkward and doesn't really communicate the concept it's trying to represent. Has anyone in R&D pushed to find a better way of saying it? Are there reasons why you can't just say "mana cost" on cards like Blast of Genius?

The mana cost of Hill Giant is 3R. The converted mana cost is 4. They mean different things. We’ve searched for a more intuitive name for converted mana cost but have yet to find one. Suggestions welcome.
