Creature Design Philosophy

How would you respond to the claim that having creatures like Brimaz, King of Oreskos, Avatar of the Resolute, Chief of the Edge, etc. with power and toughness equal to or greater than their mana cost and all upsides dumbs down the game? I'd personally rather see creatures of this size to mana cost ratio with creative drawbacks that make you think and build around them like Erithizon or Rotting Giant.

I would respond that I fundamentally disagree. The game isn’t a deeper game without Savannah Lions.
