"Have you tried making Cone of Flame/Bestial Menace variants in any of the other colors?" Does Cryptic Annelid (etb scry 1, scry 2, scry 3) count as a Blue variant?

It doesn't have the same costing, but Cryptic Annelid does do a blue 1, then 2, then 3.

I’d say it’s a member (although it costs 4 and not 5).
